Ex-detective inspector Alan Lomax, formerly of the Metropolitan Police Drugs Squad, has just completed a two-year prison sentence following his wrongful conviction for theft. His wife has left him, and his son, Steve, is missing, lying low on Britain's waterways. Lomax embarks on a long search for his son - and also for clues; he is determined to prove his innocence by finding the man who framed him.
